Reeve (Divisions 1,2,3, & 4) - RM Office
Councilor of Division 5 - Rapid View Rec. Centre
Reeve (Division 5) - Rapid View Centre
Reeve (Division 6) - Dorintosh Senior Centre
Who can Run as an Election Candidate:
- will be at least 18 or older on election day;
- are a Canadian citizen;
- have been a resident of the Rural Municipality of Meadow Lake for at least three consecutive months before submitting their nomination papers; and
- have been a resident of Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months before submitting their nomination periods.
Process for Nominating a Candidate:
Nomination papers will be available from the Receptionist's desk in person, by email, or online. To be nominated a person must file their completed nomination paper with the Returning Officer or designate during the nomination period during normal office hours and on Nomination Day until 4:00 p.m. when nominations close.
Contents of the Nomination Paper
- The name and address of the person being nominated, and the office they are being nominated for (either Reeve or Councillor, not both);
- The signature of at least two qualified voters of the R.M. with their name and address;
- The candidate's acceptance statement, which is signed by the candidate and two witnesses; and
- New for the 2020 Election - a completed disclosure statement, which lists any potential conflicts of interest the candidate holds, must be filed along with the nomination paper.
- A voter may sign the nomination papers of more than one person.
- No candidate may nominate themselves.
- No person can be nominated for both Reeve and Councillor.
- A receipt for the nomination will be issued when the form is filed at the R.M. office.
Who can Vote in an Election:
- are at least 18 or older on election day;
- are a Canadian citizen on election day;
- have been a resident of Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months before election day; and either
- have been a resident of the Rural Municipality of Meadow Lake for at least three consecutive months before election day OR have been the owner of assessable land in the R.M. for at least three consecutive months before election day.
Changes for the 2020 Election:
- All election candidates must submit a public disclosure statement in accordance with the conflict of interest legislation. These statements are required to be kept on file for public access throughout elected officials' terms, and must be updated on an annual basis.
COVID-19
The Best Practices for Municipal Elections During COVID-19, September 2020, manual has been sent out from the Saskatchewan Government that will be followed during the voting process. Please note that we are asking that one person is in at a time for voting during both the Advance and Regular Poll. We ask you to wear your mask (if you do not have one there will be disposable masks available) and use the hand sanitizer proved and practice safe distancing. There will be a pencil provided for voting that we ask you to either dispose of or take with you when you go. To decrease exposure to the COVID-19 virus doors will be proped open to decrease any handling of surfaces and there will not be Public Washrooms available.We will have janitors on site who will clean throughout the day.
